It’s no secret that Americans love drinking wine. In fact, the United States is the world’s largest consumer of wine. However, when you finish your bottle of wine, don’t rush to the recycling bin. Instead, you can be putting that wine bottle to good use! This article will give you some creative ways to use your empty wine bottles!
Floating Candles
Turn an empty wine bottle into a floating candle by following these steps. First, clean out your empty wine bottle and remove any labels or glue residue using hot soapy water, rubbing alcohol, or another commercial adhesive remover product. Then, find a thick candle such as a pillar candle that will closely fit inside your wine bottle. Place the candle into the wine bottle and light the candle. Your floating candle is complete! You can also decorate your wine bottle to match the season or holiday, but be sure to keep an eye on your candle so it doesn’t burn down too far!
Drip Irrigator
Turn an empty wine bottle into a drip irrigation system by following these steps. Remove the cork from your empty wine bottle, and remove the label. Make small holes in the top of your cork that go all the way through. Fill your wine bottle with water and place the cork back into the mouth of the wine bottle. Then place the bottle cork down into your flower pot. This will create a drip irrigation system where you can water all of your plant’s roots from the bottom up!
Wind Chimes
Use empty wine bottles as wind chimes! Find an old-fashioned hook that can be easily attached to the neck of your wine bottle, and hang it wherever you want. Then remove the cork from the top of the wine bottle, and fill it with something light so that the wind can easily make it shake. Bottle caps or coins are good things to put inside your wine bottle.
Wine Bottle Lights
Remove the cork from an empty wine bottle, but leave the metal cage. Layout LED lights in a pattern of your choice on a flat surface, and insert the LED light cord into the bottle through the cage. Then hang up your wine bottle lamp wherever you want! This is a nice way to have a unique design for Christmas lights or party lights.
Storage Container
Use an empty wine bottle to hold pencils, pens, and paintbrushes. Fill the wine bottle with whatever you want; if you are using it for paintbrushes or pens, it’s best to fill your wine bottle about halfway with sand so that the brushes or pens have room to stand up in the wine bottle. Then decorate your wine bottle to match the contents inside.
